A big fat Tennessee welcome

Tennessee is large.... I mean it is practically Texas. It was fun to pick out the differences between the southern states and the northwest and midwest. My favorite part of being in Tennessee was to pick up on these little nuances. AND to listen to people talk... still makes my day when I can fit in a "Bless 'er heart" or a "Imma chunk it" into my every day conversation.

An old mill turned restaurant outside of Pigeon Forge.

Dinner at the Old Mill.  And this was just the appitizer!

This turned into 3 seperate meals for me. Doesn't like much here, but those were 3-4 full size chicken breasts for my chicken fried chicken dinner. Served with the best mashed potatoes I have had in years and bacon green beans. Yum-mo!

All washed down with your very own full sized slice of pie. Needless to say, I took mine to go.

Now I see why these "all you can eat" challenges are so popular around here.

They really like their coke around here too! This thing had about 15 different sodas with about 25 flavorings for an endless number of soda-pop concoctions!

Aaaaahhhh.... one of the only 3 things I cared about aquiring while in TN.  Fried okra is a craft.

Legal moonshine! I guess a couple 3 lawyers got together and legalized a specific way of manufacturing moonshine. They then quit their practices and started making moonshine for profit. Thanks guys.

Wow, could Wal-Mart shoppers get any lazier? Here's Shawna pretending so we can park even closer than the handicapped folks.

I am not a boozer but I can sniff out a winery anywhere I go. Here's one of the few in our neck of the woods.

For the first week or so we were showering in luke-warm water for the first 2 minutes followed by frigid cold water for the rest of the time. We promptly called the office and had the maintenance guy replace the hot water heater. This bad boy was original since the place was built in the early 70's. Can't tell me it was just now a problem. This was just one of the MANY things that went wrong and had to be fixed in the 3 short months we were there. Glad we could get everything squared away for the next people.

At the hospital in the ICU waiting room they had all kinds of snacks and goodies. This place had it all figured out.... locked doors with scheduled 30 minute visitation times... numerous recliners in a 'quiet area' for family to snooze overnight... a shower and a kitchenette for family members...
Take note, folks if you want a happy workplace for overworked staff and overtired family.

A classic catholic church on the corner of Church St and Gay St. Oh yeah, I don't kid. Didn't think that one through, eh?

Darn, never did try these.
