A little bit of San Fran for you, a little for me.

For a delayed party for Shawna's birthday we took a little trip to San Francisco. We did all kinds of fun stuff. Three days worth. This is day 1.

Mount Ashland. Right outside of Ashland, Oregon. Duh.

Of course, our first food pit-stop was at the first In-N-Out burger we could find. It was in Redding, California for the record. Probably about 3 hours from Medford. We sure didn't last long, did we?

We made it to the hotel in one piece! We stayed at the Hotel Whitcomb in downtown San Francisco. It was an old hotel built in something like 1907, renovated last in 1998 or something. It was a little "cozy" but so beautiful! Yes sir, those are double beds (as in smaller than a queen), and we had to share. None of us slept very well, but we sure got our snuggle time in.

Riane and Shawna, checking out the goods.

The hallway. It was a little creepy, a little like a scary movie. I half expected twin girls to come riding down the hallway on tricycles. It was for sure haunted.

Jake's interjection.

The front lobby. Marble floors, a guy who's only job was to stand there and open doors for you. It was so amazing. What you don't see on the right side of the screen is the Starbucks that is attatched to the hotel lobby. Shawna was stoked to say the least.

A different view of the lobby. Take note of the hand carved wood-working on the ceilings.

A sign on the escalator down into the "Underground." This is the same thing as a subway, but only cool people on the west coast can call it the Underground.

Pretty much the only thing that this sign is missing is: "No Fun."

A picture of a picture that was taken from the Haight Ashbury District. This was by the table we sat at on the first night there. We ended up going to a great little Mom and Pop restaurant across the street. Partly because the guy in the hotel lobby said to go here, partly because we sincerely thought we were going to get shanked if we walked any further down the street at 11pm.

Yes, they accept EBT at the local Burger King. What the shit?

The clan at the Hotel Whitcomb after a long trip in the car.

Again, the lobby. Gol Dang it was so pretty! We went up to the gallery at the top of the stairs that told us all about the history of the area.

Typical street litter in San Fran. It was a really cool place to visit, but would NEVER want to live there. Guess I'm a little more "small town" than this.
