On the last day, we decided to check out the Butte Creek Mill in Eagle Point, Oregon. Apparantly it is quite popular, you would just never know because no one ever pays attention to the grain mill in which your flour was processed. This mill has been open and running non-stop on water power alone since 1872. We got to watch a video, then tour the whole place. Of course, we all found a little something for ourselves in the General Store when we were done poking around.
The original wooden augers were hanging from the building. These were used to pump grains from one area to another through a hollow pipe.
The original cash register from the old General Store. These must be a few of the grains they deal with showcased in the hand-built counter.
A few of the pieces decorating the wall.
The table that Riane was drooling over. Seats 16+ at a time. The details on this thing were amazing. This was in the basement where there were family dinners of the owners and what-not.
Don't really know what all this is... I'm sure it played an integral part in the grinding of grains somehow.
Ya know, I can't for the life of me remember what this is. Serves me right for waiting so long until I post on my blog.
The clan.
Does anyone know the fascination with Beavers in Oregon?? You can't take me anywhere without snickering...
The first refrigerator at the mill. I'm sure this is restored. I think they said something about it originally being an ice box.
Just a tiny portion of the Wall of Spices. Holy cow, I've never even heard of some of these.
