Truck pulls and Girly birthdays

I am really far behind... I know this. I am doing my best, but I am not very good at all this. I will do better.

*AAAcccheeeemmm*

The whole gang decided to go to the local fair where Jake's friend and work buddy was participating in a truck pull. Irate Diesel  Performance t-shirt... wearing em. Petting zoo's and snow cones... will do. Deep fried Oreo's... oh yeah. Giggling fits over what the State Fair brings out of the woods... duh. It was a good day.

Can you believe these ladies were truly spinning wool?! Literally freshly shorn wool from the sheep directly behind them. I wish I could have gotten a picture of the sheep, they had these little coats on in the triple digit heat to keep them clean. Too cute.

They started the day off with the original test of horsepower. It was fun to see the guys controlling the horses. These guys were very well practiced, the next lady after them... not so much. Almost face-planted every time it was her turn because the horses got a little jumpy. Kinda felt like I was back in the old days.

This is Jake's friend's truck. Didn't win, but he put up a good ol college try. Go Irate!

This was my favorite part of the whole night. This adorable little 85 year old man was still hanging with the big boys. The crowd was standing in their seats with excitement. He had a stellar run until he must have blown something because they had to tow his tractor off the strip. Ooops.

The river that is on the back side of the Portland Saturday Market. Not sure what river it is, but point of advice... do NOT get in the water. Looked super dirty, which is suprising for Oregon.

Awwww.... they loves.  (Left to right  Ashley, Riane, Natalie, Shawna)

Do you really think that little tiny boat needed ALL that room with the bridge lifting and all? Don't really think so, but it made for an interesting picture. Thanks guys. :)  What you don't get to see is that while stopping to snap this picture in the middle of a mob I thought I saw everyone else in our group walk off without Amber. And she was the birthday girl, dammit! What the hell would they leave her for!? So I went back to find her by myself. I looked and looked and searched some more... to no avail. I decided, "Well, she will make her way back to the car to find us I guess. She's a smart cookie." So I start meandering back to where the car was parked. As soon as the boardwalk ends and the grass begins I look up and see the whole group (Amber included) waiting impatiently for me. Still don't know how that sneaky girl slipped past me, but I stick by my story that this is how it happened. Sorry for holding up the show, guys!

For girly birthdays we simply MUST get pedicures. This was a great little place in McMineville by  where Riane lives. Got us all in at the same time, and gave us all individualized flowers on our toes! Can you tell this is Amber, the princess for the day?  This gentleman even put on her glass slipper for her when he was finished. :)

All done! What pretty toes you have, ladies.

Can't go anywhere without the group picture, but who would want to!  (Left to right Melinda, Amber, Shawna, Riane, me). Next comes the party at Riane and Jake's house. It was a good time, but unfortunately I have no pictures, only a little bit of video and I don't know how to share that here yet. All of Amber's close friends and family made it, and we all had an absolute blasty-blast.  Reference Riane's blog for pictures of the event if you are interested.  enosfamilygreatestthing.blogspot.com

And Riane, if you are reading this... yes I have paybacks. Just waiting for the right time, my sweet.
