Welcome to my favorite leg of the trip to Canada! The Vancouver Aquarium.
The entryway to the aquarium. Not sure what the statue is...
I just love aquariums!!
Shawna too!
The paper jellyfish had LED lights in them controlled from a touch screen monitor off to the side. It was a favorite of the small children who could reach the screen.
Of course there is a story behind this! When we first arrived, we were lucky enough to be just in time for a pretty entertaining show at the glass wall. During this show, there was this one fish - the same one - who was making googly eyes at me the whole time. I swear he was mean-muggin' me for a good 10 minutes. So at the end of the presentation when he was still there, I quickly handed my camera to Shawna and asked her to snap a picture of me giving him a smooch. Well wouldn't ya know, the second I make a move he backs off and runs away. Story of my life!
This starfish wanted to be part of the show. You can't really see him because of the long exposure, but the diver in the wet suit behind him/her was part of the show.
They must have some tie to frogs in Vancouver, maybe because of the wet and temperate climate. They had quite the exhibit on amphibians.
More frogs.
Mixed in with a few salamanders.
This sign had some interesting information about purposeful drug use and frogs.
Ya know those creepy sea creatures you see in the educational programs on TLC and Discovery Channel? They had a few of those in jars on display. Awesome.
Shawna about had a heart attack when she heard there was a dolphin show! We happened to catch it from below first, then later from above.
These girls were besties, did everything in synchrony.
They were so cute, but I just couldn't catch 'em.
The view from the top, anxiously awaiting the start of the show.
These girls were so rad. I believe I heard all kinds of things about them swimming up to 35 mph, jumping 40 feet into the air, etc. Unfortunately I can't remember much more.
A few more tricks.
Directly after a belly flop.
MORE TO COME!!!
